Description

When romance novelist Paul Sheldon (James Caan) is rescued from a horrific car accident by reclusive loner Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates, in her Academy Award® winning role), he finds out she’s his “number one fan” and has read all of his books. But when an enraged Annie discovers that Paul kills off her favorite character (Misery Chastain) in his latest book, she decides to hold him captive and “bring her back to life” in a new novel. A terrifying psychological game ensues as Annie steps further and further back from the brink of reality, while Paul tries desperately to find a way out - before his deadline is up. Based on the chilling bestseller by Stephen King, Misery is “one of the best horror movies ever made.” (Time Magazine)

A fantastic film. Kathy Bates is simply amazing as a deranged fan. She is scary!! Love this film and could watch it again and again . This was made at a time when films were made with a plot and good acting rather, than using gore for the sake of being controversial. There is one scene which will make you want to hold onto your ankles but it's done tastefully. Fast becoming a great classic. You MUST see this.

Anything written by this man is mind blowing the book is fantastic and this film is equal I do believe people should read the book so you get both sides of the coin. The acting in this film is amazing you will need a pillow if you are weak stomached

Listening to Green Day's Misery now, best song ever, and watching Misery, the best film ever. How Ironic... Why 18?!?!? It is NOT that scary, if anything it is a bit freaky. Love Annie Wilkes, Finally someone I can relate to!

I am such a huge fan of the book. It's tense and gorey and so well written and I had such high hopes for this film. However great the acting is, this film doesn't have the same punch as the book. They missed out important parts and changed some entirely. THe film isn't bad but the book is so much better

Few films have terrified me as much as this film has done. It is actually a brilliantly simple story but my god won't you be cowering behind the sofa before the ending. Powerhouse performances from the brilliant Kathy Bates and James Caan (sonny in the godfather). Brilliant film.
