Description

Dr. Louis Creed, having just moved to Maine with his wife and two children, is heartbroken when he finds that his daughter's beloved cat has been hit by a truck and killed. Thankfully, a strange, elderly neighbor called Jud knows a secret that may spare the young girl's tears. He takes the dead cat to an ancient Indian burial ground that lies hidden in the surrounding hilltops; and when he buries the feline there, it comes back to life a few days later. But Louis can't be trusted with the secret, and, despite strong warnings that something horrible will happen, he uses the power of the burial ground to bring his son back from the dead -- after the child is killed the same way the family cat was.

This film is one of the best horror films that stands the test of time. Dale Midkiff as Louis brings a lot of emotion and believability to his character, while keeping the movie moving along at a suspenseful pace. Many of Stephen King’s books have been brought to life on the big screen but this along with Firestarter are two of the most gripping and memorable movies of this genre. Watch it not the remake!!.
  • The book is better but the film is still great

I originally watched this years ago on good old VHS. Then years later I read the book and also the amazing and not to be missed BBC drama of it. The movie is still great to watch and even now I still get creeped out by it, though I do wish the Wendigo would have been added just like in the book. On a very personal note, this is my favourite film and I always watch it when on holiday.

This film really does give you a feeling of evil and dread! Great characters and a good story and the soundtrack really just makes the scares even better! Zelda is particularly creepy!!
