I have no idea why this was in the running for the Oscar in ANY category never mind actually winning one. Overacted, overrated, overly dull. The story predictably unfolded and the acting was painful. Far too many good movies to watch than throwing money at this one. Don't say you weren't warned!

Great film although slightly overrated. Portman plays a perfectionist ballerina that wants to be the black swan so she goes bonkers and then becomes it in her mind. That's basically it! It's pretty slow moving and to be honest I spent most of the film feeling confused (as I wasn't sure what was real and what wasn't) so I wasn't able to appreciate the ending properly when I finally understood it. Having said that though, it is an original concept and the story is darkly intriguing. On a separate note, Portman is completely flawless and I'd say the film is worth watching based on her performance alone. It is highly disturbing in parts and overall possibly the most bizarre film I've ever seen, but it's definitely worth a watch.

I for one, am I fan of films like these. However, this particular one was very very slow... And I often got confused over whether Nina was imagining things or not. And also, I'm still not sure if she died or not... I'd recommend it though

I had really great expectations given all the hype, but the film was average verging on just above average at best as it gives a good portrayal of the effects of an overbearing mother, however the darker scenes were unconvincing and almost childish.
