Brendan Fraser is outstanding in this film. It’s a must watch.

But not amazing. Based on a play, and looks like it - entirely set in a manky, dark apartment, with people coming in and out, crying or shouting, or both. Story: Over the course of a week, an obese shut in is rapidly dying, and wants to reconnect with his daughter after 8 years. This has the potential to be utterly heartbreaking; For me, it was missing that emotional hammer blow (unlike the brutal Nomadland) I was expecting from the marketing and publicity. It felt strangely hollow at its core, and detached from the characters. Brandon Frazer has never been better, but that’s not saying much - he’s never been a standout performer. The fat suit does most of the work. It’s left to the supporting cast to do the heavy lifting (LOL). It holds the attention, but I expected (and wanted) more.
  • alright i guess

great performances by Brendan and Hong, but everything else felt like a secondary school play, and what doesn’t help is that the daughter character is probably the most vile character I’ve seen in a film in a while

Although a great performance from Brendan Fraser, I found the film quite boring. 2 hours was far too long & I lost interest long before the end. Shame really, because after all the hype I was expecting better.

I’ve heard a lot about this movie and i was quite keen to see it as I’ve heard brendon Fraser played a great role which he did but it just was depressing , and made me feel how people who suffer with eating disorders must feel , and I wanted him to achieve more in this , but I guess this is reality for the majority Bleak and sad I’m afraid

Darren aronofski has done it again, pulling all the heart strings. He knows how to leaving you feeling so emotional when the credits roll. This is on par with requiem for a dream I feel. Well worthy of the Oscar shout.
  • Powerful movie, but insane price to rent

Saw this in the cinema and it was very powerful, although sometimes the message the writers want to make is not so clear. But if you want emotional intensity and heartbreak, then this is for you. The main issue is the crazy price of £15 to rent this movie…cannot see how that is justified for what was a low budget film that has already done it’s run in cinemas. I guess the greedy sales team at Apple iTunes thought: ‘Hey, this might win an Oscar, let’s exploit people!’ Oh well…..I always wonder what Steve Jobs would have thought of such price gouging….?
  • The one review makes this movie look bad.
