Description

Imagine a novel so overwhelmingly hypnotic, so tremendously horrifying that it paralyzes its audience with fear and turns even its most sensible readers insane. When the author disappears, an insurance investigator hired to find the writer discovers far more than he could ever imagine in this spellbinding thriller. Starring Emmy and Golden Globe-nominee Sam Neill ("Jurassic Park," TV's "Merlin"), Jürgen Prochnow ("The Da Vinci Code," "The English Patient"), Julie Carmen ("Gloria," "The Milagro Beanfield War"), Emmy-winner David Warner ("Titanic," TV's "Masada") and Academy Award and Golden Globe-winner Charlton Heston ("Ben Hur," "The Ten Commandments"). Directed by John Carpenter ("Escape from New York," "They Live").

I really don't get all these raving reviews....the movie is definitely well-acted but I didn't find neither scary nor attention-grabbing. I don't think it's worth the money or time to watch.
  • I love a good novel

I love horror and this one left me feeling, that it took many years after the release of the movie to be watched but it was worth the wait, good acting, with a sense of madness

After watching the preview I wasn't expecting much, but this is definitely an interesting horror film with some scary moments and memorable scenes. A worthwhile watch for any horror or Carpenter fan.

In The Mouth of Madness is by far the best horror film to date. Directed by John Carpenter (The Thing) and starring Sam Neill (Event Horizon, Jurassic Park) in probably his best acting role. Inspired by H. P. Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness and Insanity. The story follows private investigator John Trent (Sam Neill), whose specialty is insurance fraud. At the opening of the film, John has been committed to an insane asylum and recounts his story to the doctor. With the disappearance of horror writer Sutter Cane all hell is being unleashed! It seems his books are bringing all the unholy abominations and terror to life. What is reality and what is not reality? This question could possibly drive you mad!
