Description

The Robinson Family was going into space to fight for a chance for humanity. Now they are fighting to live long enough to find a way home.     If you can put up with the old 'kid saves the day' trope then this is a solid entertaining sci-if with a great feel to it - only to be watched LOUD through a good sound system though...

    People are always shocked to see Matt LeBlanc playing anything other that Joey, sadly this is why his role in this is some sort of Sci-Fi shadow of the much-loved comedy character; which for me, takes away from the film, whilst offering a few laughs, allbeit. Despite this I found the film very entertaining. My real problem is that while it aims to be for the entire family it dosen't really achive this. It almost achives the status of a good sci-fi film, thereby just missing the family audience. All in all ... not far off being great.

    A nice film from it's time and an entertaining little tribute to the series but disappointingly lacking decent acting. The Robinsons aren't terrible, though penny sadly, is. Possibly the biggest disappointment for friends fans though is the confirmation that LeBlanc really can't play anyone but Joey. Full of cheese non-stop from beginning to end. Ideal film when you're sat around in your pants on your day off eating crisps and toast and in the mood for watching anything at all. Much like the day-time classics cash in the attic or Jeremy Kyle.

  • An empty tribute to the TV series.

    This film was a huge disappointment - yes it has visual effects but at the expense of any plot. The original TV series with pantomime monsters far outshines this poor remake. Gary Oldman makes the best of a bad job - he could never better Jonathan Harris who in my opinion made the original show with his impeccable comedy timing always double crossing the good family Robinson. Save your money and time and watch and appreciate the original TV series instead - truly a televisual feast for the eyes!

  • weak plot, with extra cheese

    While vaguely fun, if you like your sci-fi to be consistent and have some science in it this is not the movie for you. The sci-fi side of it doesn't hang together well at all. It's just meaningless techno-babble for the most part, which blatantly violates so much known science it becomes silly. And it's not as if they needed to do that. The same plot could easily have been written to be more plausible, it's lazy to make such silly mistakes. It's a shame because there are a few good ideas in there which could have been great, and could have been a really strong sci-fi movie, and the trailer set these up well, but the movie just doesn't live up to that promise. They should have spent more of the special effect budget on getting some decent sci-fi writers to help. Overall, if you like good hard sci-fi give this a miss. But if you're looking for a daft movie with some fun special effects, you might enjoy it.

  • True to the TV series

    If you remember the TV series and you liked it, then you'll love this film. The TV series was ahead of its time, the SX were in a class of thier own for TV shows. Now the SX in the film in some parts take over, but the story and the plot are just like the series, but with a very different ending. Matt LeBlanc shows he is capable of playing a totally different role and its not "Joey" at all. Gary Oldman is outstandiing as Doctor Smith and I think slightly better than the first Doctor Smith. To take a trip back into your childhood and for great Si-fi space adventure, this is the film
