Description

Rob Reiner's romantic comedy documents a very unusual couple. There's never been a friendship quite like Harry and Sally's. From faking an orgasm at the corner deli, to debating the odds of having great sex with a guy named "Sheldon", there's nothing Harry and Sally don't do together. Well, almost nothing…. At the start, they are two recent college graduates who meet while sharing a ride together from Chicago to New York. They decide that it is impossible for men and women to be "just friends," and when they reach The Big Apple, they go their separate ways. Several years later they happen to be seated next to each other on an airplane, and Harry tells Sally about his recent marriage…and several years later, in another random meeting, he relays his divorce…when they become close friends…so close that their respective best friends fall in love. At a climactic New Years Eve party, they finally must confront and embrace their true feelings for each other.

In terms of rom-cons, this is by far one the the best I have seen of the genre. Very entertaining. Meg Ryan, Billy Crystal and the late Carrie Fisher all do Stella performances. :)
  • Best film, after Caseblanca

For six years I have dreaded watching this because of the dreadful Apple Music soundtrack. In a fit of peak put it on this evening and suddenly the old soundtrack was back. As such, the second best movie in the world.

A good movie always leaves you thinking about it for days, and this movie, definitely leaves me thinking about it, from the funny moments to the romantic dialogues. This is definitely a must watch for everyone.
  • Soundtrack is shameful at the end, but otherwise SUPERB

One of my fave films of all time. So why on EARTH did they dub the final running scene with "muzak", when it was originally edited with Sinatra singing "It Had To Be You"? I took a star off, as it really did spoil the end of the film for me.

I Love this film but the soundtrack has changed from the classic originals to Harry Connick Jnr compositions. In particular the iconic 'it had to be you' at the climax of the film has been replaced - it just doesnt have the same feel to it!

Helluva good film for 99p, probably one of the best of its genre... few really famous cinematic moments in here, like THAT scene in the cafe and the oft-mimicked speech at the end... actors really suit and it's set in New York, which is pretty much requisite for a decent rom-com... :)
