Description

Set in a not-too-distant future where America has lost its "war" on drugs, Fred, an undercover cop, is one of many people hooked on the popular drug, Substance D, which causes its users to develop split personalities. Fred is obsessed with taking down Bob, a notorious drug dealer, but due to his Substance D addiction, he does not know that he is also Bob. Based on a classic novel by Philip K. Dick. Starring Keanu Reeves ("Constantine," "The Matrix" trilogy), Academy Award-nominee and Golden Globe-winner Winona Ryder ("Girl, Interupted," "Mr. Deeds"), Academy Award and Emmy-nominee and Golden Globe-winner Robert Downey Jr. ("Good Night, And Good Luck" "Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang"), and Academy Award and Golden Globe-nominee and Emmy-winner Woody Harrelson ("North Country," "The People vs. Larry Flynt"). Directed by Academy Award-nominee Richard Linklater ("Before Sunset," "Dazed and Confused"). Filmed in live-action, and then animated using the same critically acclaimed process that Linklater used in his previous film, "Waking Life."

Might have been helpful if they had mentioned this in the bloody write up. As adults and non gamers, we view the world in a 'NON BLOODY CARTOON WAY' Don't be fooled by the cover; it's an ANIMATION, a bloody ANIMATION or a bloody cartoon in the adult world.

Dark, philosophical and quite a sad film. 'I saw, i saw death rising from the earth, in the ground it's self, in one blue flower'. 'A present for my friends at thanksgiving'. I think the whole animation thing works really well with the substance d story, a good combination thats never been done before. A must watch film for any Phillip K Dick fan.

Watch this ages ago, just had to write a review-it's briliant! Especially if you like slighty off beat comic style films.

Very confusing. A believable story line with a very sad ending. This film is very good but I had to watch it twice to understand everythig as the animation can confuse you as to what's going on at the time in the scene. Some parts kind of pointless such as the bike scene and when they were pretending to fight outside. All round this film is very good and the effects are amazing so I would recommend this to anyone.
