Description

A thoroughly cinematic drama, Elvis's story is seen through the prism of his complicated relationship with his enigmatic manager, Colonel Tom Parker. As told by Parker, the film delves into the complex dynamic between the two spanning over 20 years, from Presley's rise to fame to his unprecedented stardom, against the backdrop of the evolving cultural landscape and loss of innocence in America. Central to that journey is one of the significant and influential people in Elvis's life, Priscilla Presley.

I don’t think it’s the best Elvis perception, but it was still worth the watch. I often base my reviews on whether I’d watch the movie again, or if it will stick in my mind for the rest of time. I would say that it might end up in a cluster of other movies that would go for sale for a very low price after the initial cost.

I would have rated this 3 and a half stars but doesn’t let you. The film was good. Austin’s Butlers performance was the best thing about the movie. The music was great and the costume design wouldn’t be shocked if it wins an Oscar for it to be honest. The only downfalls I have with the film is it’s over the top editing and camera work in the first hour of the film and also Tom Hanks’ acting in my opinion was poor.

I expected so much more from Baz Luhrmann. Six months later, I can barely remember the film, the only thing I DO remember is how disappointed I was at how little music there was in the film. I feel like I wasted a lot of money.

Austin Butler is a household name and truly magnificent in this movie. Austin embodies Elvis like no other and I am gripped for 2 and a half hours. The music is exceptional and the editing is beautiful. Baz’s style is VEGAS adored and I have seen this movie 15 times now. Fully deserves all the Oscar noms and I cannot wait to see Austin take the best actor award home! This movie is also bringing in a whole new generation of Elvis fans which I think is beautiful.

  • Elvis - forget the film - just enjoy his music.

I watched it because the trailer was fine and the price had eventualy come down to reality somewhat. Trailers usually make films out to be better than they really are - and that was the case with this film too. I came to the conclusion that the best way to remember Elvis is to simply just enjoy his music.
