Description

Acclaimed filmmaker Guy Ritchie brings his dynamic style to the epic fantasy action adventure “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.” Starring Charlie Hunnam in the title role, the film is an iconoclastic take on the classic Excalibur myth, tracing Arthur’s journey from the streets to the throne. When the child Arthur’s father is murdered, Vortigern (Jude Law), Arthur’s uncle, seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down and he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy…whether he likes it or not.

Strike a light and stone the crows, 'ees only gone and done the legend of King Arfur, mate. What's wrong with that, mate? 'Ave you got a bleedin' minit, mate - an' al tell ya? Did they 'ave minits in Arfur's day then, mate? Lots of 'em, mate - according to Richie. Toni & Guy, too mate. And TK Maxx judgin' from the costumes. Anyway, Arfurs a man in 60 seconds flat and back take the castle. Wot mate, Camelot? Nah, mate the Elephant & Castle, 'innit. 'Least we're all mates, innit mate? Wot's it like then? Well, mate imagine a wrotten video for a horrible song by a Lord of the Rings concept band that goes on and on and on... I had a nightmare this morning that I was stilll watching it. Disjointed, reductionist, piffle. Endless back and forward cutting, intercut dialogue, montage and when the explanatory dialogue won't cut it anymore, voice-over, 'innit mate. Ritchie manages to remove any semblance of intrigue from the richest of lore, even the woeful comedy stylings of David Beckham, delivering poorly judged self-referential one liners from the sidelines fails to raise the pulling of the sword to any heights. The only thing this movie still needs is someone doing dorings on a pony (a real pony) in the tavern carpark. Wotcher! Or don't watch her, it's really up to you, mate - 'innit?

Classic example of never listen to rumours - personally I’ve seen all the versions of this story and to be honest this was the most entertaining - they could easily have gone down the same route as the original story but then you’d know the end before you got there! I like it when a director does something different and it works and I thought it did with this - You could argue that more sword play wouldn’t go a miss but with what the sword can do they wouldn’t last very long so didn’t really make a difference - good film well worth the watch and not at all the worst film I’ve ever seen and trust me I’ve seen some crap!

Excellent film. The whole family thoroughly enjoyed it. We have now watched it over and over and kids walk around singing tunes from the soundtrack. Very fast paced, catchy soundtrack, great humour. Well executed family entertainment. Well done Guy. Shame there will be no sequel. Don't see why it was a supossed flop.

Watch the trailer. Rubbish looking film isn't it? And then there's David Beckham's much publicised cameo where he portrays the worst actor in the world. Or was it a soldier? Yet the film is actually very good. Yes there are some exceptionaslly stupid moments such as the final fight scene. But overall it is very good. Good set pieces, soundtrack all done to Guy Ritchie's typical style. And it works. Forget the trailer, go watch this.
