Description

The game is afoot once more! Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law reprise their roles as Holmes and Watson in the supersleuth sequel to the mystery megahit that minted over a half billion dollars worldwide. While vying with Watson's soon-to-be wife for the Doctor's time and attention, the detective extraordinaire matches wits with his arch-nemesis Professor Moriarty (Mad Men's Jared Harris), a criminal genius who's conspiring to make a fortune by manufacturing the next generation of wartime weaponry that the world's great powers will be forced to use against one another... once Moriarty succeeds in provoking World War I, of course. Joining the dynamic duo on their adventure is a feisty gypsy (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo's Noomi Rapace) and Sherlock's craftier but crazier older brother Mycroft (Stephen Fry).

Having never watched any of the Sherlock episodes or knowing much about it, I throughly enjoyed it as RDJ played Sherlock exceptionally well.

What a fantastic film, a conspiracy theorists wet dream, well shot, a great script, first class acting and such inspiring art department work. This is a brilliant sequel, sadly I just fear that any one of the negative reviews left by people are just a sad representation of the lack of any imagination in today's society, Happy days :-)
  • Holmes in Pirates of the Caribbean style

Saw the first of these and thought it worth watching if a bit whacky, unfortunately the director has clearly decided that the next incarnation would be improved by making it even more whacky and as a result has made about 60 short unrelated comedy sketches, put them together and called it a film. The result is a fragmented Victorian farce with no storyline or even a connecting thread which, in spite of the excellent photography and sets, becomes tedious after about 20 minutes. Oh dear, with all the acting talent to hand something of a missed opportunity. Bit like pirates of the Caribbean, but without the storyline. Worth a punt as background fodder for a drunken lads night in.

This is a brilliant film. Lots of action with a good plot and great cinematography. Downey Jr and Jude Law make a perfect double team for this legendary duo.

The think the first movie was just okay and I thought this one would be even less enjoyable than the first one, cos usually the sequel of most movies are not as good as the first. But I was pleasantly surprised that this sequel far exceed the first movie. It is fast paced, witty and engaging. I love the plot and the ending was really good.
