Description

Proving once and for all that you can’t keep a good Slayer down, Joss Whedon’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 8 Motion Comic picks up where the smash hit TV show left off! Based on the award-winning Dark Horse comic book series, these eye-popping motion comic adventures breathe new life into the Buffyverse for long-time fans and new “watchers” alike. The Hellmouth may have been destroyed, but the world still needs saving, and Buffy Summers is back at her butt-kicking, demon-slaying best to do the job. She’s relocated her base of operations to a castle in Scotland to lead the Scooby Gang, including hundreds of newly activated Slayers scattered around the world to battle the supernatural forces of evil. But in the wake of Sunnydale’s destruction, the U.S. government thinks Buffy and her legions of followers have grown too powerful and are now terrorist threats. Meanwhile, a seemingly unstoppable group of Japanese vampires hatch a nefarious plot, while the biggest, baddest Big Bad of them all, Twilight, is on a mission to destroy every Slayer on Earth!

I really enjoyed this XD Watched it a few years ago. Are they ever going to continue it or has the project been scrapped?

Firstly, let me review the download itself and the issues over price. For 10 minutes worth of action, £1.45 per episode is very dear indeed. Unfortunately for us the consumer, this is actually oneo f the better prices. It's £25 for the series at least at 99% of online retailers and if you were to buy all the comics now in paper form that'd set you back around £50, closer to £100 if you were buying them as they came out. Secondly, let me warn you: THIS DOWNLOAD ISN'T COMPATIBLE WITH SOME iPODS! Nor is it adaptable to Windows Media Player. I have an iPod Classic circa 2007. I understand that others like me who also do not have iPods from the latest generation have had issues too. Simply, my iPod cannot sync it. So be warned on those counts. As for the content. Being an avid comic book reader, I was desperate to try out comics in a motion format. Being a big fan of 'Buffy', this looked a dream deal. As a comic its very well illustrated, motion comic book works wonderfully, and my misgivings over Buffy working in a different format have been dispelled,. At keast from a practical perspective. That said- it failed spectacularly in regards to content. But here's 10 reasons why I wouldn't recommend it: 1) Series 8 has continued the whole 'Super Slayer Squad vs the World' storyline taht series 7 had started. I hated it, its not 'Buffy' as far as I am concerned. Potentials are annoying FULL STOP. 2) Unclear storyarcs- IT IS SO HARD TO FOLLOW! 3) Rubbish villain- with a silly name (he's called 'Twilight' 4) Xander & Dawn- why why why! 5) Poor voice actors 6) Feels too fantasy-esque: includes other galaxies etc- borders into sci-fi. Hard ot relate to. 7) Poor voice actors 8) The characters don't even resemble the characters off the TV 9) Not enough humour 10) Stupid plot turns that make it feel ludicrous.

I'm am huge Buffy fan but SO disappointed that this download series doesn't have (cc) on them, I'm profoundly Deaf and I would like to see subtitles so that I will enjoy watching them while travelling or home watching. There is lots other series I would like to see but again no close caption reader (other word for subtitles).....Any chance for upgrade them to (cc)? I will be entirely grateful and certainly change your stars.....pretty please?

The series itself is good, the motion comic is done well and the storylines are in keeping with the other "series". All this merits a 5. Most of the new cast does a good job in my view, but it does detract that the original cast weren't used, Giles's voice is particularly distracting, especially to a UK audience. My main problem (and why I rated 3) is that the season stops about half way through, and the second half doesn't seem to be available. If I had known this I probably wouldn't have bought it.

So they started making these in.. 2010? It's now 23/08/11 and we've still only got 19 of like 48 comics.. I think the continuation of the buffyverse is awesome, but there is some serious slacking going on at head office somewhere.. I thought I'd bought all of season 8, which made me kinda sad when i discovered theres less than half and no actual release date for the next one. Suppose I will keep checking monthly. A must watch/read for the Buffy fan though!
  • Um, how much per episode?!

Sorry iTunes, I'd love to like this, hell I'd love to love this, but I'm spending 18 quid on a whole series I might hate, and I'm not spending £1.45 on 10mins worth of episode either. Honestly, how much?! Never mind the trailer, the first episode should be free or at the very most 99p
  • Long Live Buffy!

Not quite as brilliant as the TV show, but infinitely better than nothing! Please finish the series 8 motion comics and get series 9 underway! Long may the Buffyverse continue! I heart this.

Storylines are good and its understandable that some may not enjoy because of the animation... What i dont get is why they bothered to make the characters blink if they dont bother having their mouths move...

Just from the previews I can see their is a whole new twist in Buffy the vampire slayer, it will never be as good as the original tv series but it will do. (:
