Stargate Universe, Season 1

That's as an amazing sci-fi program its just as good as SG1 is even better than Atlantis so I would recommend this to anyone Sci-fi Fun

After watching sg1 and sga all the way through which I have both 5 stars I was bitterly disappointed at SGU. It's not even about the stargate really it may as well be called space ship with unsed stargate on board

This series seems similar in concept to the BSG remake but has removed any humour, compelling srorylines and characters. I was bored about a third of the way through the series for the following reasons. Firstly the character with questionable motives is uncovered in the first episode. Secondly each episode follows the same tedious routine, there is a crisis and a time limit in which this must be resolved, cue some tagged on dilemma and a ticking clock in the background. When the crew are in imminent danger of death in every episode this soon loses its punch, and you care less and less whether they survive to the end of the 45 minutes.

As a scifi story, this is about 6 ounces of plot combined with 25 pounds of American schmaltz and soap opera nonsense. The idea of a stargate and the various elements of the stargate narrative are too strong to be squandered by soppy afternoon-soap-like plot sidelines and overly-long sentimental set pieces. For God's sake, this is supposed to be science fiction not Desperate Housewives! Very, very disappointing... and, one can't help thinking, a crying waste of a good SF story idea.

What an awesome show. I am a fan of all the stargate series and was very interested in SGU and the direction they are taking it. It is a bit slow at first but really does become great after the mid season 2 parter!! Awesome, can't wait for season 2!

The halfway point of this series really started to show it's mettle. After a slow start, they have really been stepping it up in terms of plot quality and character development. Having seen the whole series now, I'd say that Human is one of the standout episodes of the first season.
