Description

After blasting away the competition to become the most-watched cable miniseries of 2003, Battlestar Galactica returns as a one-hour weekly drama. The show reunites the entire cast and creative team behind the miniseries, including stars Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, Jamie Bamber, Tricia Helfer, Katee Sackhoff, James Callis, and Grace Park. The new Galactica series picks up where the hit miniseries left off. After engaging in a losing battle against the Cylons, humanity's last remnants fled in search of a new home, a mythical planet called Earth. With waning supplies, weapons, and hope, Commander Adama and President Laura Roslin (McDonnell) realize that their problems are far greater than the immediate threat of Cylons. On their shoulders rests the very survival of humankind.

People complaining about price. It's what you get for convince. I stumbled across the 4ep prequel and kept on buying season after season I couldn't wait long enough to go down to the shop and get the box set. To me it was well worth the money
  • A classic

By far one if not the best dramas out. But with prices this high iTunes should be able o sell this cheaper. Also why no 'Series Bundle'

Why oh why is the cost of this series on iTunes so much more expensive than the Blu-ray box set? It's cheaper to buy the Blu-ray box set on your high street than it is to download one and a half seasons here. And HD on iTunes isn't even full 1080p - it's only 720p. If there is anybody out there who can rationalise spending the money Apple are charging for each (almost HD) season of this great series then by all means go ahead and spend it, everybody else can rest assured in the knowledge their (full HD) Blu-ray box set includes all the special features absent from iTunes' overpriced season sets. Five stars for the series only. Apple doesn't even get one.
  • Watch this season...it is all downhill from here!

Season 1 is great. Great plots, wonderful themes and some very good acting. Unfortunately, I suspect the analogies and "messaging" are a bit too sophisticated for the average American viewer--a frequent problem when productions use a combination of British and American writers, producers and actors. The writers and producers may think this show is a wonderful commentary on America's War on Terror and the debasement of civil liberties in the quest to "preserve society", but I wonder how many people have picked up on that. One other reason to watch Season 1--it is all downhill from here. After Season 1, the series degenerates into a soap opera. Indeed, if I had stopped after Season 1 I might have agreed that BSG was one of the greatest TV shows ever produced. Sadly, Seasons 2, 3 and 4 transformed it into another show made for a fringe network with a viewership smaller than Judge Judy.
  • The Right Price

Well, when they dropped the price as part of the "where it all began" promotion I bought it, the HD version at £14.99, which is much more reasonable. Hope lots of people do the same while the price stands and they learn something. :-)

Don't let the spaceships or the camp original get to you, Battlestar Galactica could quite possibly be one of the best dramas ever made ever. Manages to be topical, interesting and realistic, even if it deals in science fiction and some fantastical themes throughout. Some people felt the later episodes lost focus, but hang in to the end and it'll be worth it and some of the most rewarding tv around. Such a great story. I skipped the mini series and just started with episode 1, 33. I learnt the characters and themes through the show, and only went back to the mini series as a filler after series 2. Recommend that, the mini series isn't a great introduction, ironically.

This show is awesome for any sci-fi fans out there but the price on iTunes is extortionate. Why pay this for one season when u can pay the same for all four seasons on Play.com. I'd rather do that and convert to my iPhone to save money.

The show is amazing...my one star rating is the price that itunes is charging for downloading the series...its too much people! Shop around for a better deal than this. I dont believe in pirating at all, but I understand why people do it when it costs so much to download per series. Itunes..shape up, and stop the greed!

Excellent show, however - no Dolby 5.1 soundtrack. You can buy the complete season from Tesco for £12.99 in Dolby 5.1. Come on Apple...sort it out!
