  • Great (very enjoyable) Film

Although there are a number of historical inaccuracies (for example, the leper King Baldwin never wore a mask, Battle of Hattin occured at a diffferent time, Saladin did not attack Kerak because he was suitably placated but because he was called away to defend Egypt etc), still very enjoyable with some epic battle scenes, the extended version also well worth watching.

I thought the original was boring, however giving this version a try…I found it to be far better than the theatrical release, this is a worthy film to be called ‘epic’.

This epic is the story of a young man name Balian de Ibelin who follows a man who may be his father on a quest to the Crusades. There, he must go from being a simple man into a leader to try to help the Christian Crusaders who are occupying Jerusalem fight off hordes of Islamic Saracen. The movie has an epic feel!

When i saw this as a theatrical cut in the cinemas i found certain characters to be weak detracting from the story. This directors cut adds an entire another story fleshing out relationships and reasoning behind key moments of characterisation. I hated the theatrical version but fell in love with the directors cut because of the changes.
