Wouldn’t watch again- once is enough! Most likely why Apple is now charging £14 to own it!
  • A terrible film

First film I’ve ever watched that feels like the most randomly selected scenes thrown together in no order. Such a poorly made film with truly atrocious acting. It’s a painful watch.

I am a huge fashion fan, and awaited this film with much anticipation. I have been saving it to watch. I already knew the story of the Gucci family well, and with Ridley Scott involved and such a great cast, my expectations were huge. It’s too long. But worse than that, this should be an crackling story ~ intrigue, deals gone wrong, glamour, family infighting. The script is awful. Lady Gaga could have done better with a finer script. As a fashion fan, that part of the story is glossed over and yet there was so much that could have been told. A missed opportunity in every way. Pacino is like a caricature - a dialled in performance. I really, really wanted to love this film and it just did nothing for me. And just for the record, whoever cast the Tom Ford character has clearly no knowledge of the man. It’s important to get the details right or you end up with a film version of a fake Gucci bag!

Ridley Scott has delivered some outstanding films, sadly this is definitely not one of them. Yes Lady Gaga is good but the film is 30mins too long, never gathers any pace and you are left thinking for such an iconic brand we may as well had a 2hr documentary on Discovery. Jared Leto’s accent is dreadful, Adam driver spends the whole film just grinning and Al Pacino is easily forgotten. Overall the whole thing is a disappointment.

No other word for it and it seems to go on forever. Couldn’t bear it any longer so I can’t say whether the end is worth the endurance!
  • The trailer made it look better

I’ve seen the original interviews and documentary. This movie reduces Adam drivers character to zero personality, there were so many interesting characters that seem to have been portrayed with such lack lustre. Lady gaga is good. But the film is so long and drawn out, you don’t develop any feelings or insights into any of them. I’m glad I only rented

I've been waiting for this masterpiece to come to iTunes and man, was it worth it! First of all, this film has the best audio quality that i've ever experienced from iTunes / streaming. It shows how capable Dolby Digital+ is when combined with Dolby Atmos. But really, the talent lies in the production. Absolutely first class from the second the film starts - the dialogue is crystal clear and the awesome 1980s music is punchy, alive and 100% accurate - no dull sounding compression / mixing here! The same goes for the outstanding 4K Dolby Vision / 1080p picture quality. The film was shot in ARRIRAW in 4.5K using the Arri Alexa Mini - regarded as the world's best industry standard camera using Panavision Vintage 65 and Panaspeed lenses - see the attention to detail. This is the film that Apple should use to demonstrate their Apple TV 4K / ProMotion on Macs, iPhones, iPads etc. OK, now onto the film. I kind of knew the story as i'd seen a documentary about 20 years ago on MTV. This film breathes new life into it. I'm normally not a person who can sit through a long running time film BUT the 2 hours 40 minutes simply flew by! I felt that the acting was true to life by all and the locatons were beautiful. My only criticism was that I would have loved some of the locations to have been shown for a little longer - in particular th skiing which only lasted for a few seconds. It could have ben a little more involving! The music fitted in so well and was incredibly well chosen. Loved the Autobianchi A112 car that was briefly shown in the first minute of the film. I feel that this film shows the negativity of what can happen when families make their children work for the fmily business. Sadly in this case, it robbed their children of their chosen career passion. I felt that they had no passion for it and were wasting their life and future happiness in it! I've always loved fashion - I was the kid who saved up his £2 a week paper round money to buy a Fila jacket or LaCoste T shirt and my beautiful Mum ran a clothes shop in the 1980s. I did indeed buy a black slim fit suit from Gucci whilst working in radio sales for a dance RnB station before I went to university 🙂 After watching the film, I feel that you would not ever want to buy a Gucci item ever again. It's a tragic and really sad real life story. The originators had the passion, excitement and drive but the whole concept was killed by vulgarity, jealousy, dishnesty, lust, ego and greed. A truly fascinating film with 100% passion and attention to detail. This film has not been rushed. Every detail is there. I believe that it is a artistic masterpiece. I feel that this is a world film that every culture can identify to or indeed, learn from. INCREDIBLE.

Wanted it to be great - something to get my teeth into. Sadly it was a bit lightweight. I’ll agree with another reviewer here saying Gucci turns from dull flop to chairman of the board and ruthlessly cheating on his wife with no real explaining as to how and why. It really is as if scenes are missing. Leto is playing it for laughs. When he’s on the screen it becomes a pantomime. Gaga is brilliant, as is Pacino. But it’s just a bit thin. No meat to it.
