Adored this movie since the first minute. Sweeney is so scary, Mrs Lovett is so quirky, Anthony is so cute. There are people out there who say Tim Burton can't tell stories. You'll be proved wrong here. The story is eventful, perfectly timed, and has a major twist at the end. Those who have seen the broadway production will be very satisfied with the film's reliability to source. There is no point in making this review without mentioning the brilliance of the cast. Of course Johnny Depp is the film's big star, turning in an Oscar Nominated performance as the tormented barber. Burton's now ex wife Helena Bonham Carter is equally as chilling as Mrs Lovett, the pie chef whose feeling's for Todd spiral out of control. Let's not forget the supporting cast. The late Alan Rickman as Todd's enemy Judge Turpin. Timothy Spall as Beadle Bamford. Sacha Baron Cohen's crazy Italian barber Pierelli. But let's not forget that memorable first performance from Jaime Campbell Bower, playing the young sailor Anthony Hope.
