Brilliant, brilliant film. The acting is top class, the plot perfectly levelled between plaintive and farce, and the script is brisk and slick.
Those of us of a certain age - over 45, say - will welcome every one-liner and every slapstick gag with arms opened wide. This is the film that spawned a byproduct TV series of the same name, creating Mash adherents of grand proportions.
