Description

From the Lilly and Lana Wachowski and Joel Silver, the masterminds behind The Matrix trilogy, comes another intriguing, action-packed fantasy-thriller. Great Britain has become a fascist state. Now, a shadowy freedom fighter known only as "V" (Hugo Weaving) begins a violent guerrilla campaign to destroy those who have embraced totalitarianism. In his quest to liberate England from its oppressive ideological chains, "V" recruits a young woman (Natalie Portman) he's rescued from the secret police to join him on an epic adventure to execute a seemingly impossible task.

This attempt to adapt Alan Moore’s seminal comic book fails dismally here. What should have been an instant classic has been dumbed down, cutting key scenes and adding pointless new ones. My recommendation would be to buy the perfect comic book instead.
  • This is a relist, but my old version has upgraded to 4K

The downside of relists (asides from not always getting the 4K upgrade) is that it breaks Siri and “Up Next” functionality on Apple TV - because the old version is no longer in the iTunes Store, it directs you to buy the relisted version from the iTunes Store page. Not great from a ease of use or continuity stand point. Either relists need to be discouraged or Apple needs to come up with a fix to stop them breaking Apple TV functionality for people who’ve bought delisted (and subsequently relisted) content.

I remember seeing this in the cinema. It was one of the first films I got on the iTunes Store many years ago. I had been thinking of rewatching it recently. Now my copy is updated to 4K HDR I definitely will be. It’s funny you hear all those with hard copies saying that no one can take their Blu-ray Discs away but you never hear them complaining that someone upgraded their copies overnight. Oh wait, no one ever will. Lol.
