  • Masterful Classic comedy

Delightful cast and wonderful San Francisco setting. Classed as a homage to old Hollywood screwball comedies but it’s a lot more refined. Yes the last act is mayhem and features a fun chase through the streets of the hilly city but the first two acts feature superbly light and humorous dialogue exchanges. The evening dinner event is just beautiful to watch. Streisand is comedy gold throughout and O’Neal is perfect as the straight man who finds himself intoxicated by her character. Add the likeable secondary cast members who never irritate and just add to the whole film. Madeline Khan is perfect as the over bearing wife of O’Neal. You don’t hate her at all. Just love what she says but don’t mind her being on the losing side as things go wrong. Perfect comedy film that I never get tired of. A must watch.

...when slightly drunk*. When done so it will have you roaring with laughter. The choreography, both physical and verbal, is a work of art. In our mad world, this kind of madness is pure joy. O'Neal and Streisand and all the other members of the cast are absolutely at the top of their game. Bravo to them all. *for example after a very generous The Last Word: equal amounts of Gin, Chartreuse, Maraschino Liquor, lime juice - shaken over ice and served chilled. After consuming, this film becomes the best antidote you will find to the universal craziness of our age and especially its poker-faced political correctness. Amen.

Yea, for those interested in the new Hollywood cinema of the early 70's watch the trailer. Its interesting to see the studio trying to distance itself from its past, ironic or not, and does Bogdanovich seem like a man slipping out of control....Anyway just thoughts and I'm now going to watch the film too, which Pauline kael hated, but a lot of people think is rather good....

One of the funniest films ever made. Streisand at her best and sexiest with Ryan O'neil doing a perfect Cary Grant. Mixture of 70s non-stop gags and old style hollywood slapstick. If you're young and your looking for something funny you must rent or buy this you will love it. It's not wrong to say every scene is funny.
