Description

Matthew McConaughey (U-571) and Christian Bale (Batman Begins) star in an explosive action-packed adventure with bone-charring special effects that will have you glued to your seat! When workers in a London tunneling project awaken an unearthly fire-breathing beast from centuries of slumber, all hell breaks loose. Twelve-year-old Quinn (Bale) sees his mother, one of the workers, die trying to escape this new terror. Twenty years later as a "fire chief" he tries to keep a group of refugees alive with fierce dragons dominating the air, burning the land and feeding on the ash. Unexpectedly, Van Zan (McConaughey), a hotshot American militia leader, shows up with a ragtag group of slayers on a perilous crusade to hunt down and destroy the beasts. Tempers flare when there is a struggle for leadership -- until both men realize only one species is getting out of this alive.

This was by far one of the best movies of of the decade! I've seen it a dozen times and still find myself emotionally drawn to it. Christian Bale is above par with his acting skills in this movie.

On the face of it, it sounds like a preposterous story, but the script is so well written that it all sound feasible. Fantastic effect even by today's standards it looks stunning. The acting is very good, on the right side of comic book, Matthew McConaughey is exceptional in this. A real transformation from the norm. Izabella Scorupco - is as gorgeous as ever and has a good strong role. Bale just gets away with the strong London accent, but the Dragons really are well drafted. Shame the company behind them folded. This film will not disappoint!

This film was a very entertaining watch and it was good to see a dragon film (seeing as you don't generally see any) and it had a great backstory which is better than just having fights and guns etc.

For a film that used a poster depicting hundreds of dragons fighting a score of helicopter gunships, this film was a bit if a let down. Having said that, if I had never seen the poster, I would not have been expecting an action adventure. As an action film, this fails miserably. As a dramatic piece, with a few bits of action thrown in, this film does deliver the goods. Christian Bale give another great performance as a man struggling to survive in a post apocalyptic world, haunted by his past, and trying to save others from the fate that befell his parents... Sounds a bit familiar actually...
