    Just a response to what J_marshall1967 has said which isn’t quite correct. This special edition version isn’t included as an iTunes Extra to the theatrical version. There are 3 versions of this film available: Theatrical: 2:23:14 Special Edition: 2:31:23 Extended TV Cut: 3:08:31 - included as an iTunes Extra to the theatrical. Personally I prefer the special edition cut of the movie over the theatrical, it’s a shame it never got a 4K release like the theatrical version did.

    I recommend you purchase the theatrical release on iTunes as this extended version comes as a special feature with a pile of extras since JP QUINN 35 is moaning again instead of looking at what’s available

    This is indeed an improved (slightly longer) version of the original but potential buyers should consider the the 2hr24mins version before buying as this has the the 3hrplus edition with many extended scenes in it as an iTunes extra. The full extended version is, as far as I am aware, not available anywhere else in digital form.
