Superman: The Movie

Purchased this to watch the extended version but it’s not in the iTunes extras! I’d like a refund Apple !

So many classic moments, right from the beginning with the opening credits (just amazing music by John Williams!), to the beautiful cinematography of the Smallville scenes, to perhaps the greatest scene in cinema history (Clark opening his shirt to reveal the S, turning into Superman and flying up to catch Lois and then the helicopter too!). You can say it’s dated but it has such a classic look to it (and even some of the effects still hold up; back then in 1978 it was the most expensive film ever made! Though some of the effects and especially the sounds effects were remastered and updated in 2001 for the DVD release). Trust me, the film still works for all generations, and kids will still be mesmerised by the magic of this movie. Christopher Reeve was, is, and will always be Superman - never bettered - and always the ideal which all superheroes and superhero movies are measured by. Look at his Oscar appearance in 1996 shortly after his accident (YouTube), very moving. The 3 hour cut is fun and only for die-hard fans. But as a film, the acting, directing, editing, writing, production design and especially the music are absolutely the best you’ll ever see. This will always be my no.1 movie of all time. Even on the 1000th viewing!!

You have the option of either a 4K film without the extras, or an extended edition with the extras but only in HD. Is it too much to ask to have the extended edition in 4K. If it’s possible do the entire Christopher Reeve Quartet in 4K, with any extras also included. Really wish Apple would follow Disney’s example and start acquiring studios. That way they could control these aspects and not be at the mercy of the studios and leave movie fans disappointed.

This is a great classic film but one problem! The Extended Cut on the extras won’t play on Apple IPhone 8plus. Only way to watch it is through Apple TV! 😡 Sort it out Apple!!! 🍏

Without a doubt this is the best sounding film I’ve seen/heard. I’ve gone through a lot of Atmos content via iTunes and haven’t found anything as good as this. I may be bias as this is my all time favourite film but I do feel they went above and beyond with the sound remastering here. Awesome job!

One of my favourites of all time. My only gripe is that I bought the 6 film bundle and this 4K version needs to be bought separately.

I’ve had so many versions of this masterpiece . This new 4K Dolby digital version is amazing . The intro sound and what an upgrade to the picture . The film has grain but that’s down to how it was filmed. Get it guys :)

It’s great the 3 hour cut has been added as an extra. It is a shame that this wasn't combined with the Special Edition version though which is the Directors Cut so can have all 3 versions together. Currently if anyone buys the 6 movie boxset they miss out on this one with the 3 hour cut.

Great film but on the extended cut does anyone else notice the sound is truly awful ?

Man of Steel was ok, but it felt rather confusing at times. This film was very cool and enjoyable m. I liked it, despite it being dated.
