How can you trash a film with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan in it? Its a great easy going NY love story, i don't usually go for this kind on genre but it just grabs you, a little like NY itself, love it or hate it!
A revisit to update

One of the other reviews asks "Why remake something good?" Well I think I can answer that. To make a good story relevant to a new audience.
This is a story of two business rivals who loath each other but are secretly writing to each without know the other's identity, they are known only by there email addresses. The plot works as well today as it did in the 1930s taking into account new technologies and there, is perhaps the problem. I get a feeling of nostalgia as I watch Hanks and Ryan dial up a connection to the Internet to get their emails. And of course, no one mentions the idea of being able to buy books via the Internet or read books on mobile devices, threatening both stores in the story. For all that I do enjoy this film and will watch it time and again when I want to be entertained by two excellent actors. Yet strangely enough I wouldn't mind seeing a new version for the 21st century, for who dials up for the email these days?

One of the most gentle and romantic films I've seen and will go back to again and again. Perfect for a duvet day and an injection of smiles xxx

I have seen this film about seven times now and it's one of those easy, feel good films made for a duvet day, when your feeling under the weather or there's nothing on the box.

I love The Shop Around the Corner and don't know why anyone felt the need to remake it. Don't think much to this at all. What a waste.
