Description

When world class skater Zack's (Lanter) chances to compete at ice-skating highest level are thwarted by an injury to his partner, he must find a new skater quickly or face the reality of not competing at all. Enter Alexandra, an amateur Latina hockey player who's never skated competitively and at first wants nothing to do with Zack. But Zack is desperate, and his will and determination to make Alexandra his new partner eventually prevail. Now the question becomes, can Alexandra dedicate herself to upping her skating game to the next level while not falling for Zack's good looks and charm in the process?

Francia Raisa is cute, Matt Lanter is hot, together they looked good on screen, and it helped that they possess some fairly good acting skills, so combined with some great soundtracks, overall a good chick flick with figure skating being the main topic. Plus you don't have to have seen the first and the sequel to watch this, it stands alone making as much sense but having seen the predecessors help recognise one specific character as well as the mention of another from the previous films.

So the cover of the film makes it look pathetic and quite Disney like, right? It's not. (I can also assure you that Matt Lanter looks MUCH better in the actual film, i'd watch it again just for him.) The film is pretty predictable, the plot barely varying from the second film, so if you've already seen the second, you may not enjoy it so much. But no, you don't have to have seen the second to understand this one, not atall, they work brilliantly as stand alone films. I really enjoyed this film, it really had me rooting for the characters, and the acting was spectacular. Would probably be good as a girly chick flick for a sleepover, or just to watch on your own. Younger children (probably girls, but anyone who wants to be a skater, as the main character IS a guy) would enjoy it too, although there are a couple of 'eek' areas, which I guess is why it's rated PG. So yeah, go watch, go enjoy, go fall in love with Matt Lanter!!
