Description

Christopher Reeve, Gene Hackman, and Margot Kidder return in this blockbuster sequel to one of the most beloved superhero movies ever made. On the verge of giving up his powers for love, Superman (Reeve) is confronted by three super-criminals from his home planet who have escaped imprisonment and come to Earth with the same abilities as the man of steel. Imperious insurrectionist General Zod (Terence Stamp), seductive but sadistic Ursa (Sarah Douglas), and mute brute Non (Jack O'Halloran) challenge Superman to a cosmic battle for world supremacy--just as Superman and Lois Lane (Kidder) finally get romantically involved.

I prefer the Richard Donner Cut of Superman 2 as it ties in with the original film better. This is as good as it got with sequels at that time along with a certain sequel to Star Wars.

This is a great movie that I have adored for years. Yes it's not as good as the first movie but then most sequels aren't. Both the main actors turn in amazing performances. The story is lovely, romantic, funny but still a great 'Superman' comic story. The end is amazing and so emotional it is definetley one of the major scenes in Superman Movie history that really stayed with me. MK does an amazing job. I highly recommend this movie.

terence stamp is really brilliant in this. i dont think almost anyone has ever done a better villain performance. he is more famous for his serious work, but this is his best performance by far; im sure he would try to knock out anyone who said that to him but its true. hes also a really nice guy, ive seen him in the street several times and said hi and he was really gracious about it. same goes for john hurt. i always say hi to see how arrogant they are, and it seems that they are nice about it in proportion to how much real talent they have. like tv stars are normally arrogant and rude, because they cant really act.
  • I grow up with this

Even though i grow up with his Superman 2, i prefer the original one, you know the one made by Richard Donner, before the studios replaced him with Lester.

I love this film and have never got tired of it in all the years. The Metropolis finale is worth the price alone (even if you can get it cheaper pretty much anywhere you try!). It's a true shame that we cannot buy the film in HD, which is only available as a rental. A top-notch film that stays true to its comic origins and delivered with sincerity.
