Description

Set during the Civil War, three disparate drifters... (the poncho-clad, cigar-chewing, silent but supremely confident "Man With No Name"--The Good; the evil bounty hunter--The Bad; and a renegade Mexican bandit--The Ugly)... search for a Confederate cash box containing $200,000, which is hidden in a distant cemetery in an unmarked grave. Their journey will carry them through the ferocity of the Civil War landscape. Sometimes they masquerade as Confederates, and others as Yankees. When they arrive at the cemetery and find the treasure is when the REAL violence begins...

Everything has a shockingly distracting yellow/green tint to it now with this new 4K version. U canโ€™t be off noticing it if uโ€™ve followed this movie for decades. Itโ€™s definitely a better pic but everyone has a jaundiced look to them now. Not easy to get over it tbh

Not only the greatest western ever made, but also one of the greatest films ever. Great dialogue, characters, and performances, all rounded out by incredible cinematography and a phenomenal soundtrack. The last 20 minutes of this film are the closest to cinematic perfection we have come to.

  • the greatest western in a bloated cut

the cut available on iTunes is an overlong version, later trimmed by over 20 minutes to a much more satisfying length for international release. That international theatrical cut is pin-sharp, funny and packs an emotional punch. But not this one: bad revoicing and unnecessary exposition have been restored, and the clarity of the story mightily suffers. A US 50th anniversary bluray set has both versions. Buy it and discover why this is the greatest western of them all (and I say that though I love Peckinpah)

A master piece. Clint certainly knew how to 'p' take the old western movie. How one idiot on here can claim that this movie should be free because it is old is beyond me, they think iTunes is a free for all - iTunes is a massive business - businesses are about making money any idiot knows this. Why some believe the internet should be free is very small minded indeed. You do not expect shops to give films for free and all the internet is; is one hell of a big shop.
  • Sound editing ruins film

iTunes needs to do something about the sound editing. Clearly the conversion to digital has been screwed up. This may be a great film, I donโ€™t know because the speech being a second or two off in places makes it unwatchable. T

This is one of my all time classic favs and resides in my collections with the likes of The Godfather, Pulp Fiction and Shawshank Redemption. I remember watching this as a kid with my dad and i can still watch and enjoy it over 30 years later and that is indeed something in an age of the special effects blockbusters, the pace of the film is just right providing action when nessersary and right amount of slower plot driven sequences. The acting by Eastwood, Wallach and Van Cleef is simply excellent. I simply love it and i bet i will be still watching this for the next 30 years or so.... god willing :)
