It was a very good film as it were traditional and VERY VERY close to the book, whilst many prefer the 1996 version - I would say this film is more true to Shakespeare's play, but both are spectacular at portraying the play in their different approaches. But Zac Efron happens to be the splitting image of Leonard Whiting, rather than vice versa - speaking of actor and actresses it was indeed a brilliant cast! A film worth seeing as well as the 1996 version also!

An enchanting film with unforgettable music. The individual performances are excellent. Isn't ths a way to introduce Shakespeare into schools? R

I swear Romeo is zac efron if not then he's a clone of zac efron! This movie was so touching. I watched it in English at school and I cried at the end when there's a mix between who's dead. Boo hoo but overall an awesoomee movie!

Just watched this in English at school and it's great the love between the two but to get 5 star you need the 1996 Leo version.

i had to watch this in my english class last year, so that we could write some coursework, but i was actually pleasantly surprised by how good it was. of course it's old, the quality's not great and i couldn't help but laugh at some of the acting, but it's good. but i'm afraid i still like the 1996 version, that baz luhhrmann did much better! :D
