Wasnt sure what it was all about until halfway through the film - still didnt uderstand exactly what was happening but that might just be me being thick. Basically a good yarn and the acting was good and it moved along quite nicely and the ending was a surprise too. All in all not a bad film

This film is my best film of all times. Very clever. Only why some people don't like this film, it's mainly because they don't understand it. Yes I agree I think there should be a second one too.

I loved it, brilliant story told in an amazing way, Tom's performance is the best I've ever seen, and every time he is seen I can see what other fans see in him, he deserves many awards for his effors, as for Penelope Cruz she is fantastic in the film, I can't believe it's 10 years ago the film was realeased, one I would certainly like to own in my film collection and in my top 10, well done to all involved in the film, maybe a follow up should be thought of, Tom is still young and Penelope Cruz!!!!!

Brilliantly edited and directed, great music, interesting story. It made me think a lot about life and such. Great scenes the film looks wonderful especially THAT ENDING! A few pacing problems when the subject of the story switches from romance to sci-fi territory. Although Tom Cruise (not a fan of him) is the main character it's proberly one of the best films he's done, it's up there with The Last Samurai. Penelope Cruz is absolutely gorgeous and i have a massive crush on her. And Cameron Diaz doe's a scarily good crazy person. This film has a lot of mixed reviews but don't let that put you off, give it a try. Often i say if a film leaves people talking/thinking about it for more than 15 minuets after they have seen it then it's a good film. That apply's to this.
  • Just so pretentious

I don't feel Tom Cruise does well in arty films. Where he attempts heartfelt or twisted it arrives as saccharine and wooden. I advise seeing the original (Open Your Eyes/Abre Los Ojos), before seeing Vanilla Sky. To me the original achieves depth and raw passion where VS fails. VS grated on me and felt like a bit of a chore. Of course make your own mind up, but i'd take authentic over hollywood remake any day.

Found this film slightly boring and all over the place. Maybe give the original a go.
  • Over-hyped here.

Shoddy remake of the spanish original. Enjoyable film due to some strong acting from the leads, but the plot is breezed over making it seem somewhat whimsical. Never won any major awards, and it is obvious why.
  • Holywood-ified version of a great movie

The film is good but in my opinion the original is much better and left more to the imagination. Would definitely suggest watching both and making your mind up. Great twists and turns.

Great idea, well executed, with brilliant production, and direction.... And what a story! Cameron Crowe is one clever man.
