  • A true masterpiece

First time I watched this film back in 2003. I've seen it many times since. I can't hold my tears every time I watch it because it is so true to my childhood memories. True faces, true characters, true beliefs and true emotions, but also true in every detail: uniform, routine, boat's interior. I grew up among these people, my dad served on this particular boat some ten years after the events. Kathryn Bigelow, Harrison Ford, Liam Neeson, and Klaus Badelt (his musical score is a masterpiece of its own but also fits incredibly well) made the best ever film about the Russian navy, and the most true. I cannot thank them enough for it.
  • Why 5 stars?

This film gets 5 stars because I closed my eyes and imagined a world where Apple Inc have the inspiration to offer us Das Boot instead, yes a German film, but probably the best submarine film ever made. Come on Apple . . .

The film would have been pretty good if the trailer hadn't given it all away beforehand.
