Description

Filled with intense action, Annapolis is an inspirational tale of courage and honor that will keep you riveted. As hard as it is to get into the most elite military academy in the country, surviving behind its walls is beyond belief. Young Jake Huard (James Franco) has always known he has what it takes to make the grade. But once inside, everything Jake thought he knew is challenged in ways he never could have imagined. Standing between him and his lifelong ambition of becoming an officer in the U.S. Navy is his company commander -- Midshipman Lt. Cole (Tyrese Gibson), a relentless and merciless battle-seasoned Marine. Thrilling and exhilarating, Annapolis reaffirms the power of believing in your dreams.

worth a rent. Maybe. If you like cliche, inaccuracy and a story that has been done before. Nothing like the trailer, no fast jests, no ships, and not a reliable view of the US Navy. Still, I watched it all the way through!
  • Not a film about the US Navy

This is a boxing movie with clunk, predictable scripting and some Remember the Titans-esque camaraderie thrown in apparently as an afterthought. The closest the film gets to the submarines, aircraft carriers, F14s and the explosions featured in the trailer, is right there in that trailer. Otherwise, you get pretty close to a ship under construction, and to some actors wearing US Navy uniforms on a set designed to look similar to the US Naval Academy at Annapolis. The main focus of the film is boxing, but you'd be much better off watching Ali with Will Smith. Don't waste your money on something that's not what it's billed as. I gave it 2 stars because while it's not brilliant, the actors did fairly well with what they were given. I'd just prefer it if the script writers had done as well.
