Description

From Academy Award winner Alexander Payne (The Descendants, Nebraska) comes the hilarious film that delivers big comedy... and small Matt Damon. When scientists find a way to shrink humans to five inches tall, Paul Safranek (Academy Award winner Matt Damon) and his wife Audrey (Kristen Wiig) decide to ditch their stressed out lives in order to get small and live large in a luxurious downsized community. Filled with life-changing adventures and endless possibilities, Leisureland offers more than riches, as Paul discovers a whole new world and realizes that we are meant for something bigger. Academy Award winner Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained) also stars in this tremendously entertaining and original film.

  • A Gigantic Missed Opportunity

To be fair, I couldn’t watch more than 45 minutes of this movie because it was just so incredibly dull, earnest and PC. It’s certainly not a comedy although the central premise could have easily made it one. It could also have been an interesting drama. However, it ends up being an extremely ordinary movie about people except they’re just very small. Please don’t waste your money. Maybe set fire to it; at least then you’ll get a nice warm glow. More than can be said about this movie.
  • Disappointing

Boring film, lack of story, concept was a great idea but turns weird and I was baited into watching it with the promise of Kirstin Wig who only features less than 5 minutes of the film. Avoid unless free.
  • Not as bad as suggested

I agree with the reviews that the main concept of being ‘downsized’ is poorly dealt with in this movie, however, I personally enjoyed it. There is good character buildup and I think ultimately it’s a message of detaching from material possessions and inequality. There is a nice good feel factor but the ending is confused and pointless. I have watched it over a number of times until that point before it goes weird near the end. Not for everyone’s taste. Rent it before deciding whether to buy
  • Utter Rubbish

This movie is listed as a comedy, there wasn’t one funny thing in the entire movie. It’s pompous, full of “the worlds going to end” statements and let’s not be unfair here, a little depressing. Acting was poor and story was terrible. Even at £2.99 it was a con.
  • A Complete & Utter Waste of Time & Money

We're still in shock that we actually paid over our hard earned money to watch this riduculous film, let alone come to terms with the realisation that we will never get that time back. One of the....no, actually...THE WORST film we have ever seen.
  • Two films, neither much good

It starts off as a dark comedy, not particularly good but at least with an intriguing premise. Then it switches to a different film that seems to have very little to do with 'downsizing'. I've watched it twice to check and, yes, it's really a waste of time.

Only writing a review to help others avoid this one. It’s truly awful.
  • Give it a try, certainly not a 1 star film...

What is it about being online that makes people so dramatic, stuff like “the worst film ever” or “can’t believe I was ripped off”, it’s an alright film, certainly not the greatest but far from being the worst film ever, I’m sure a lot of people who are rating it as 1 star probably think fast & furious or anything with Jason Statham in is a classic. It is possible for films to be just decent, this whole black & white, love/hate, greatest/worst that you get with comments online is so incredibly boring. Back to the film it’s a pleasant, easy going movie that I enjoyed, maybe the wine with it helped but I didn’t feel cheated or that I was ripped off or any of that c**p, it was almost like a light-hearted black comedy with a hint of drama, bit of an odd one but if it goes cheap to buy it’s worth a punt...
  • Good idea, really badly delivered

The concept for the film and the underlying idea seem pretty solid. The problem is it seems that the writers, director and producer were not talking and all making a different movie each. It’s not a comedy, it’s not a drama, it’s not a thriller and it’s not an action but it dabbles with all the genres whilst throwing the story all over the place. A waste of a good idea.
  • Please don’t buy it.. it must be the worst film I’ve ever seen!

Downsizing starts well, with a theoretically entertaining premise. However the tiniest bits are in the trailer and not the film, and after 2 dreary hours of this film... the only thing I wanted downsizing was this from my iTunes library. Please don’t buy it... it’s awful...
