Description

Risen is the epic Biblical story of the Resurrection, as told through the eyes of a non-believer. Clavius (Joseph Fiennes), a powerful Roman military tribune, and his aide, Lucius (Tom Felton), are tasked with solving the mystery of what happened to Jesus (Cliff Curtis) in the weeks following the crucifixion, in order to disprove the rumors of a risen Messiah and prevent an uprising in Jerusalem.

It was nice angle to the most beautiful story yet. Felt refreshed as the movie ended.

This is a great film, not least because the viewer is invited to see the evidence for the resurrection of Jesus as if we were the centurion.

It was a bit of a shock when Peter Firth turned around as Pilate but, he's a great actor and you soon get caught up in a detective story as the Centurion at the crucifixion is sent to find out what happened at the Resurrection. The film takes you into the world and the clash of beliefs and values that divided the Romans and the Jews. The film takes you through the crucifixion – which is vividly done – and you get a sense of the horror and barbaric nature of that means of execution. The body is in the tomb and then on the third day the body is gone. The biblical elements are all there but threaded alongside it is the story of the centurion and his search for answers. It’s possible to respond to this film at different levels. For the believer it is a vivid retelling of the key moment in the Christian story. For the non-believer it is a parable on the clash of faith and reason. It is superbly acted throughout and the dialogue and setting are very realistic. Some of the early scenes are quite intense for young children but the violence is not particularly graphic. An exceptionally good film and in my view one of the best about Christ.

I wasn't sure how good this movie was going to be, and to be honest I thought it was going to be a bit like the TITANIC where we all know how the story goes. I've had the good fortune to visit Israel and jeruslaem on vacation and work and this movie just brings the places that I visited and all those stories of our Saviour to life. The story is Well potrayed by the actors and I really felt that I was transportred back in time and this movie made me think of what it may have been like for those who whitnessed and who where personally involved in this terrible event and to see the glory and prophecy unfold before them. well worth the time to watch no matter what your beliefs are?

It is rare to finish watching a film and feel so inspired and full of hope. Bring on the next great prophet - humanity is in need and thus far prophets have been sent to us every 2 thousand years - to remind us that we are spirts in this material world - so it seems to be time.
