13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi

After a decade of making giant commercials for toy robots and the army (ie the Transformers movies) Bay decided to make a movie about people he actually cared about, and what a difference it makes. One of most frustrating directors working, as in being gifted and successful but unable to make anything meaningful, here all of his technical and artistic firepower is focussed, tight and powerful. The film definitely has a politic, and it won’t be to everyone’s tastes (Bay loves the military but not authority, and he doesn’t seem to understand how they’re connected) but at least it HAS a point of view. Throughout its runtime it very effectively puts you in the shoes of a group of well-armed and highly trained security soldiers as they try to fend off what feels like an entire army over the course of, you guessed it, 13 Hours in Benghazi. For once, Bay’s relentlessly intense use of visuals and sound supports the material, and he gets convincing, heartfelt performances out of his cast, so this for me makes it Bay’s best film since The Rock.

Ignore the low ratings from some people, it is a good film, easily an 8 out of 10 imo!!!

Wasn’t sure of this movie, then I saw who was in it!! Hooked from start to finish!! It’s more than a one watch movie!!🤩

What amazing film to watch and keep for ever 😊

This is a brilliant and sad film based on a true story. Six elite professional soldiers protect and defend a US diplomatic compound against overwhelming odds when terrorists attack. A review below said a more realistic terrorist death toll would be about 30. Six elite professionals would easily be able to kill more than that, especially when you consider their skills, training, weapons and explosives, It was also their compound and they had the high (roofs) ground. Plus there is no higher incentive than the will to survive. This is a MUST SEE film, and it’s a film that should definitely be in your film collection. Best of all, it’s been given the 4K Dolby Vision treatment with Dolby Digital Plus 7.1 sound, iTunes Extras and CC subtitles that was only £3.99 when I bought it.

I had seen this advertised for ages but never gave it the time of day until I realised who directed it..........then I realised it had to be worth a watch as he would not direct a mediocre film. If you like your war movies then you have to watch this, it’s not one of these far fetched films as it’s based on real events but I think that’s what keeps you watching.

Thought this film was epic, then realised Bay directed it which surprised me greatly. Not that I do not like Bay, I just find most of his films too much for me. But this was truly brilliant! 5 Stars from me

Don't believe the haters -- it's a great movie. Gripping action all the way. This is no B movie. Great cinematography, great acting, great soundtrack.
