Description

With the Walrus crew stranded and the precious Urca gold in Spanish hands, Flint and Silver must join forces in a desperate bid for survival. Eleanor Guthrie’s grip on Nassau is slipping when a new breed of pirate arrives in the form of Ned Low. As blood is spilled and tensions mount, Charles Vane must decide which he values more: Eleanor’s life, or his men’s respect. And unbeknownst to them all, a prize of immeasurable value has already been smuggled onto the island. Its discovery will impose the ultimate judgment: are they men, or are they monsters?

The sophomore season shows, as has House of Cards and man others that the highest quality TV drama stopped needing network commissions some while ago. Freed from the constraints of big networks, this series turns Captain Flint into one of the most impressive anti heros of modern times. Toby Stephens leads an excellent cast, making the most of the excellent material delivered up by the writers. Prequel to Treasure Island this may in theory be, but this is no children's adventure. The caution is warranted in this case.
