Description

One day, nobody dies. All across the world, nobody dies. And then the next day, and the next, and the next, people keep ageing - they get hurt and sick - but they never die. The result: a population boom, overnight. With all the extra people, resources are finite. It’s said that in four month's time, the human race will cease to be viable. But this can’t be a natural event – someone’s got to be behind it. It’s a race against time as C.I.A. agent Rex Matheson investigates a global conspiracy. The answers lie within an old, secret British institute. As Rex keeps asking “What is Torchwood?" he’s drawn into a world of adventure, and a threat to change what it means to be human, forever.

I found this series good but it is extremely slow starting and the gay scenes put me off of it. I'm not being homophobic but the gay scenes ruin the story and make it less serious, my whole family cringed at quite a lot of the scenes but overall i found this series gripping and it hooks you on to each episode by creating questions and mysteries
  • People hate it but at least it's still Torchwood

I enjoyed it because it was grown-up and watchable Unlike Doctor who which is now a children's programme and has lost all it's quality Torchwood has changed yes, but the acting is phenomenal and I enjoy the humor The rules are still the same, and we remember what we're watching The gay scene was a bit much I admit.. but i just skipped that bit There is still that darkness there and the new characters aren't terrible either I liked the ending as well. Hope to see more Torchwood and less Doctor Who

With the amazing 'Children of Earth' series, Torchwood was experiencing a triumphant return (or a climactic end). However, 'Miracle Day' does all it can to put aside the seriousness and less-is-more special effects of the previous miniseries. With a heavily Americanised narrative, Miracle Day strips off anything that made Torchwood what it was. Aliens are gone, awful one-dimensional characters are in. If you're looking for a continuation of Torchwood, this isn't it. The series focusses more on the American government and another mysterious company rather than developing what could have been an extremely emotional character-driven piece. The series is all-scope, little realisation.

In my opinion the children of earth was the better series but this was still good.

Season 1 of Torchwood was arguably there for shock value, to separate itself from Doctor Who. Season 2 Toned it down and focused on an excellent storyline week after week. Season 3 was 5 days of heart stopping, nerve-shredding action with an even greater storyline and top rate acting. Season 4 was... overly long for one storyline and then anticlimactic at the last episode. The acting was still top notch, but the story was tedious despite the fantastic concept. It wasn't thrilling, it strayed off from the original concept of Torchwood in the first place and all I can say is: What Went Wrong?
  • Disappointing

I love Torchwood and i've watched this but still can't help but feel that it has lost a great deal. Part if the whole charm of Torchwood and Drwho is the quirkiness. That has just gone and been replaced with the depthless Americanisation. The predictable one liners that seem to be in all American shows. The blinkered direction which thy take. Don't get me wrong, I watch a great many American shows and enjoy them, but this just hasn't really translated to the Americanism well, in my personal opinion. I really do feel it is a great shame and a great loss to the show. I'll watch the next series if it comes on but all in all I much preferred it in Wales, as it was before.
  • It was okay...

Ive been a fan of the show since it started and fell in love with all the characters,in my opinion torchwood belongs in cardiff. This series was a bit too long for me,even though i really found the plot fascinating to say the least and acting amazing and it didnt feel right. I much prefer series two and in my opinion the show was a lot better with a different story each week and a underlining story such as the build up to gwens wedding day,the relation ship between jack and gwen or gwen and owens affair. But altigether i enjoyed this bigger budget, americanised way of torchwood and look forward to another series hopefully.
  • The best so far

What happened to the old Torchwood? This latest series is so much better, intense and intriguing. Americanised, some people write. Well, the story has better integrity (along the lines as what got started in Children of the world, but taken a few steps further), the pace is higher, the shoots are tighter, the action is better, the characters are more well defined. What is there to complain about, really? It's like saying that the current Dr Who is not the same as the old one. It isn't. It's better. Get over it. End of rant. For me, this is the best Torchwood season so far and I'm eagerly awaiting the next one. Even my wife, who has never been a fan of Dr Who, Torchwood or much anything else that I like to watch, found it hard to stop watching this fourth season of Torchwood. That is quite an accomplishment.

I have watched all the Torchwood's and I have to say this was one of my favourites. The extra time allowed for a far more complex story and for the pace to take a breather and allow the characters to be explored and the actors to excel - especially John and Eve who were both fantastic. I soon got used to the Americans and it still retains the quirky welsh humour, although not as much as season 2. Fingers crossed for more...
