3.5/5. Paddy Considine was fantastic as the first king. That was this show’s main positive. If you’re a die-hard GOT fan, it’s worth a watch just for that. However, were some very confusing moments, where the characters acted completely unrealistically (even fantasy has to have realism in some aspects) and I wasn’t sure what was going on. And just in general, apart from PC’s stellar acting, there isn’t much of the show I remember. Whereas with the original GOT I can remember massive swathes of the storyline and characters. Don’t go expecting the same compelling watch as GOT (not season 8), but it’s worth a watch.

    B. O. R. I. N. G. how can a show with Dragons be boring, watch it and see…wow!
  • Dull and disappointing

I found it devoid of any humour, the characters lacking depth, the dialogue dull and I have now given up on it after episode four.
  • Very, very dull

Felt like a very dull BBC costume drama with lots of strained and pained dialogue about who will inherit this or that, but otherwise aimless. Cast changes also don’t help. Felt like animated Tudor waxworks (with the occasional dragon ride thrown in to boost the lack of interest). Better than a certain show on Amazon about a ring of course, but that’s not saying much. Bring back Jon Snow!!!!
  • So disappointing after the pace and unpredictability of GoT

All that money… all that time… where have the good scriptwriters gone? Do the editors not watch back what they’ve written and made? Some great performances by the actors here, but theyve been left high and dry by a half-baked, truly tortuous script… go back and read up again on character development and how to get the audience engaged with them. Im not being a ‘troll’ . Just saddened and bored by what ive watched

Why is this not in 4K? We are in 2022, aren’t we?
  • Bring on Season 2!

Not everybody’s cup of tea. Some comparing to GOT (which shouldn’t be necessary). Clever prequel and brilliantly written. A tad complicated you may say. But delivers in droves until the season finale. Awesome!
  • I don’t understand the hype

I found the whole series long winded and dull as dish water. The characters were superficial and subplots pointless. The acting was decent but the script was rubbish. I won’t be bothering with series 2.
  • Everything done well

The set, the cast, the acting, the costumes, the music, the dragons, the character nuance - it’s just an incredible season that lays the foundation for so much more - you are in for a real treat. Enjoy x

A return to form for HBO when it comes to Game of Thrones related properties.
