Description

In the year 2154, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) will stop at nothing to preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium – but that doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in by any means they can. Max (Matt Damon) agrees to take on a life threatening mission, one that could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

Wonderful film with great acting, beautifully directed and shocking plot twists. This is up with one of my favourite films. The first thirty mins begin explaining the main character max (Matt damon) and his childhood and his situation. Then the film becomes gripping and action packed after max is given 5 days to live

By the end of the film, I didn't care a hoot about any of the characters, nor their motivation. Jodie Foster puts on possibly the worst fake film accent ever, Matt Damon spends the whole film looking concerned. The best character is the South African maverick bounty hunter who has the best weapons technology and the most easily believable character, almost amusing in his desire for violence. I really didn't buy the idiotic reboot idea either, the CEO writing x86 assembler? Come on. District 9 is fab, this isn't.

This is such a beautiful film down to Matt Damon’s performance. He brings real humanity and gentleness to an action film. Lesser actors would have been all ego but he exudes something special. Jodie Foster is weak with a strange accent- but the storyline and the editing make up for some of these flaws. An excellent and beautiful film that will stay with you after watching.
