Description

Life doesn’t always go according to plan…Pat Solatano (Bradley Cooper) has lost everything -- his house, his job, and his wife. He now finds himself living back with his mother (Jacki Weaver) and father (Robert DeNiro) after spending eight months in a state institution on a plea bargain. Pat is determined to rebuild his life, remain positive and reunite with his wife, despite the challenging circumstances of their separation. All Pat’s parents want is for him to get back on his feet - and to share their family’s obsession with the Philadelphia Eagles football team. When Pat meets Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), a mysterious girl with problems of her own, things get complicated. Tiffany offers to help Pat reconnect with his wife, but only if he'll do something very important for her in return. As their deal plays out, an unexpected bond begins to form between them, and silver linings appear in both of their lives. The Weinstein Company presents SIilver Linings Playbook, a family drama, comedy and love story based on the bestselling novel by Matthew Quick, written and directed by David O. Russell (The Fighter, Flirting With Disaster).

Good story, but not great. Lots of shouting matches!
  • The opposite of a feel good movie

Too much shouting, ranting and anger. Not what I expected at all after reading the reviews. Gave up two thirds of the way through. I guess if you are in to certain types of acting, or have been through bad break ups then maybe it will hit closer to the mark... but I just didn't get it. Feel a bit cheated with such a good cast

Love this film. You can watch it so many times and see new stuff. The dialogue is so sharp and fast, delivered perfectly and with subtle comic timing to perfection. Moving, insightful, embarrassingly intimate and neurotically outrageous. What a great story they brought to life here!

I love this film. Jennifer Lawrence is superb. Bradley Cooper is a breath of fresh air. As someone who has to live with bi-polar disorder I can totally relate to Bradley Cooper's character. His dilemna is so moving, and thoroughly true to life. Their relationship moves seamlessly through so many levels of angst it is quite breathtaking. A wonderful film with believable characters. Obviously I recommend it.

Just watched it the second time - and totally get why she won an oscar for this. It's heartbreaking, it's funny and so touching in sweet and subtle ways. Highly recommend it! I want that garage!

Give this movie a chance. It didn't immediately grab me, as I have lived with mental illness, and felt a bit uncomfortable at first. But it came to life once Jennifer Lawrence entered, about a third of the way in. She must be the best actress of her generation; totally mesmerising on screen and a wonderful foil to Bradley Cooper. The supporting cast are universally brilliant. The plot is satisfying, engaging and appealing. I smiled most of the way through it. This is the first movie I've felt moved to review and I would happily recommend it to all my family and friends. Enjoy it.

Just re-seen this. Loved it. Great script and actors. Quirky, surreal in places and romantic. Fine ending too. There's very little as good as this coming from the States.
