Description

Albert Markovski (Jason Schwartzman), head of the Open Spaces Coalition, has been experiencing an alarming series of coincidences that have lead him to fall under the influence of nihilistic competitor Brad Stand (Jude Law); an executive climbing the corporate ladder at Huckabees - a popular chain of retail superstores. With the help of two Existential Detectives, Bernard and Vivian Jaffe (Dustin Hoffman and Lily Tomlin), Albert examines his life, his relationships, and his conflict with Brad.

This film. Is. Awful. I love quirkiness - Wes Anderson is wonderful and all that - but this film seems to think oddity is equivalent to profundity. It isn't. And this film is… well, just awful.

this is without a doubt my favorite film. it's funny and clever and especially crazy!!! the first time i saw it i didn't really know what to think of if but after seeing it again i couldn't stop myself from bursting out laughing and literally rolling on the floor and i still do every time i see it. the actors are really great as well. i definitely recommend this film!!! give it one (or more) shots, you won't be disappointed!!!

I agree, this film is not for everyone. In my opinion it is one of the best, most watchable, most loveable, most thought-provoking and funniest films I have ever seen. To me, it is like watching someone who has gone into my head and made a film out of it. Similar to The Science of Sleep in that sense, but a little less grounded in reality or perhaps a little more it is hard to tell! I recommend renting it first as you will most probably love it or hate it! Definately wacky and not for the closed-minded or anyone who considers themselves to be "normal".
  • A strange film

This film is kinda bizarre but I enjoyed it though at some points I got lost with the plot as philosophy isn't my strong point. It was in 'I Heart Huckabees' that I realised Mark Walberg could acheive more than he's normally given with a film script because I thought it was odd he was in such a kooky film piece. He really needs to diversify as an actor and this film helps him. This isn't to say the rest of the acting wasn't as good, its just my expectations were met with the rest of the fine cast.
  • Stay Away!!!!

For me the first few minutes set the tone for the whole movie. It was the most pointless movie. The first 5 minutes were of a guy running along corridors, it was never destined to be a good movie. Dont waste your money.
  • If you have an open mind and are in the right mood, this film is brilliant.

Otherwise, I am not so sure. This film is no blockbuster. It is no action-filled drama. I wouldn't say it was a cult classic, either. The plot is very loose, the acting above average. However - the creativity, imagination and lateral thinking are what make this film come alive. It is by no means a fantastic film, it is simply a quirky romp (emphasis on quirky) with some intriguing ideas and a black humorous tint. Definitely one for the intellectual in you. I recommend this film after having drank a LOT of wine.
