Description

The popular and cheerfully malevolent creatures are back in this hilarious adventure which reunites most of the original cast and creative team of its 1984 smash hit prequel, directed by Joe Dante ("Innerspace," "Twilight Zone: The Movie") and produced by Academy Award, Emmy and Golden Globe-winner Steven Spielberg ("Munich," "War of the Worlds"). Sweethearts Billy and Kate leave Kingston Falls for the big city where they meet up once again with their Mogwai friend, Gizmo. Hilarity reigns when a series of accidents creates a new generation of Gremlins and Billy, Kate and Gizmo must once again use all their ingenuity to outwit the little creatures and prevent another comic catastrophe. Filled with enough sight gags, celebrity cameos and crazy tributes to old musicals to satisfy any movie lover, right down to the now infamous closing credits.

  • An under-seen sequel.

I love the fact that Joe Dante only agreed to direct this sequel when Warner Bros begged him to, on the condition he could do whatever he wanted... and it shows. This is a studio sequel on the surface but inside it’s very much the work of Joe Dante. This sequel is even more weird, mean-spirited, mischievous, funny and subversive than the original. It is clear the film-makers let their imaginations run riot, whilst not losing sight of skewering the commercialism-gone-mad mood of the late 1980’s. If you grew up in this era, you will enjoy a lot of the jokes, some of which break the fourth wall very effectively, and it’s isn’t afraid to poke fun at itself either. It’s this creativity on the loose that makes the sequel, in my opinion, even better than the original.

This is listed in the Christmas section of itunes- but I’m not sure why? A classic never gets old- but that doesn’t mean it should reflect in the price! I would buy this movie for £3 or less ✌🏻👍🏻
