Description

Academy Award® Winner Helen Hunt (Actress, “As Good as It Gets,” 1997) joins Academy Award® Nominees John Hawkes (Supporting Actor, “Winter’s Bone,” 2010) and William H. Macy (Supporting Actor, “Fargo,” 1996) in this triumphant true story about love, sex, desire...and making every breath count. Paralyzed and confined to an iron lung since childhood, poet-journalist Mark O’Brien (Hawkes) has overcome adversity time and time again. But now, at age 38, he faces his toughest challenge yet: losing his virginity. With the help of a beautiful therapist (Hunt), a sympathetic priest (Macy), and his own unbridled sense of optimism and humor, Mark embarks on an extraordinary personal journey to discover the wondrous pleasures that make life worth living.

Dull, dull and dull.....I can't remember where I got to in the movie, I'd lost the will to live by then

As an Inidie movie I think it stands out as one of the better ones. Very sweet and poignant with purpose and moral, I would recommend seeing, but not buying - it's one of those films that, when you've seen it once, you've seen it enough.

What a thoughtful and beautiful film….makes you aware of how we take for granted the important of human connection on both an emotional and physical level. Great actors and a huge fan of Helen Hunt. Her films always have so much integrity and the analysis of the human condition…only realised it was based on a true story afterwards which makes it even more special. Recommended watch!

A tender and moving film. A powerful exploration of sexuality as something Divine; and of womens' inspiring capacity for love.

Really liked this film - the lead roles are well executed and the story is interesting. You will not be blown away or on a emotional roller coaster of a ride. This film moves you in a gentle way and with a smile as the humour is well delivered, What was different about this movie was the supporting cast. Each are as good as the leads, and each has their own story, which is told in a subtle way.
