.... With a title like that but instead it takes itself way too seriously and is dreary and dull, with wall to wall digital action that feels fake and suspenseless. Watch "Wanted" for a much better example of this director's style working for the material instead of against it.

If having read the title you watch this film and expect oscar complexity or something akin to a future movie classic, then I think you need to re-evaluate how you approach your movie choices. If having read the title you think “I want a fun, entertaining twist on the classic vampire tale” then I think this could be the film for you. It is obvious, it is entertaining, it is essentially a Hollywood formula vampire action film, with an Abraham Lincoln twist. I enjoyed it for exactly what it is.

This had a total "made for TV" vibe. Sub standard movie. Avoid at all costs unless you absolutely love mediocre vampire stories.
  • Abraham Lincoln?

As vampire films go, it was a great film. Lots of good action and film work. Small downsides are my general frustration that all films that involve any fighting seems to draw (mysteriously) techniques from Eastern martial arts. Oh and this may seem like a trivial point but, really, Abraham Lincoln? Are you joking? Slavery, the civil war? All routed in a vampire cause? That said, I'd watch it again.
  • Good action movie with a silly plot

I enjoyed the action with the vampires but I also liked the scenes between Abe and Mary. The acting, especially from Ben Walker, was really good.
  • Reasonable

It was pretty average, good fight scenes, nice bit of back story - but overall I left the cinema underwhelmed. Worth a watch I suppose if you are a fan of the genre

OKay just finished watching this film, WOW! From start to finish it doesnt fail to captivate and engage the viewer. The plot is a fantistically imaginative and yet well developed re take on American history and theres more than enough thrilling action to punctuate a solid, at times slow, (not without good reason I hasten to add) story line. The acting is flawless throughout with Abe and his enterage being every inch as inspiring as one could have hoped and some more than worthy antagonists to contened with in a far better than average vampire story. Sure at times parts of this may seem a little 'far fetched' but surely in a film where vampires exist that is hardly a concern. If you're a fan of blade/ buffy, underworld, Vanhelsing and the like and enjoy if even to a lesser extent movies such as the patriot or Sharpe then this is definitely one to watch and certainly worth 'four score and seven' minutes of anyones time if you're dubious I can without hestitation reccomend atleast renting this one hit wonder, hope my review has been of use :-)
