Description

Academy Award-winners Michael Douglas ("Disclosure," "Wall Street," and "Basic Instinct") and Robert Duvall ("A Civil Action," "The Godfather") star with Emmy-winner and Oscar-nominee Barbara Hershey ("Portrait of a Lady," "Hannah and Her Sisters") in this action-drama about a man's odyssey into madness, prompted by the effects of modern city life. It follows two ordinary men: a laid-off defense worker (Douglas) driven beyond frustration in an endless traffic jam now on a path of violence and potential self destruction, and an LAPD detective (Duvall), only hours away from retirement who is determined to find him and stop his vigilante acts. Directed by hit-maker Joel Schumacher ("Batman Forever," "The Client"). The New York Times called this "a wickedly mischievous, entertaining suspense thriller..."

I remember seeing this in the 90’s and thinking it was relatable and stimulating. I thought to download this now and wow how disappointing. This is awful. The script is so full of cliches and so basic that I would say the writers were not bothered about the way they were writing, and saw through the director and didn’t respect him! The whole thing is so immature, full of pathetic stereotypes verging on racism if not full blown racism. It’s hard to absorb this film and feel like it has an impact when it’s as irritating and superficial as this. The director clearly had friends in high places hence the ‘crap film gets made’. The timeless idea of ‘working man with a desire to fix the system/corruption revenge’ thing is really not used correctly here. The neurosis is not convincing. It’s not possible to empathise with this character. It’s just an ‘aesthetic’ of frustration. There’s nothing behind it. I think taking this idea and making something much more realistic, uncomfortable and compelling is possible. It’s an easy to identify rhetorical device! But this detached, shallow and adolescence way of approaching it shows a real lack of care. It’s really false. Just watch Tarantino.

We all feel like this guy on some days. Michael Douglas is outstanding in this role. Great story great acting, it's a tale that most of us can totally identify with. A very underrated thriller. Rent or buy this you definately won't be disappointed.

We all have bad days, but what would happen if one day you just took it to far and snapped? . A loving dad, recently divorced and at his wits end breaks down in his car in a jam and crosses a city to see his son and takes his anger out on everything in his way, you don't know if you should love him or hate him . Would or could we all loose it like him?

Like a non-Sci Fi version of The Terminator. Both Michael Douglas and Robert Duvall were excellent in this film. It had lots of twists and turns in it and i really enjoyed it. I’d watch it again.
