It's Kind of a Funny Story

The book is a masterpiece. Not only does the film massively stay from the book, but it completely trivialises mental illness and Craig’s troubles in favour of pandering to the commercial market.

I love this movie, by far one of my favourites! I could watch it every single day and not get bored

I love this film so much. Ive watched it3 times in the last 24 hours and I cried at the end of each viewing. Its really powerful and wonderfully done. I think its at the top of my favourite movies list, tied with The Butterfly Effect. The acting is terrific along with script and the concept. Buy this film, you won't regret it

REALLY good film... Very good acting from nearly everyone except the main character tho :/ the only other thing i dont like is nothing really happens :/... The story is pretty much a kid feels suicidal... He goes into a hospital... A week later he comes out... Thats it... The ending just makes it seem kinda pointless... But other than that this wud have been a five star easily :)

This film was a total waste of time!!!!

This is the first time I've ever left a review - but I simply couldn't let anyone else make the same error as I did in believing the 'recommendations'. Firstly, this is NOT another 500 Days of Summer, Eternal Sunshine or Garden State as some reviews indicate. True, it tries its little heart out to mimic the quirky, indie 'deep topic - light touch' approach, but fails miserably on all counts. Instead, it's a ham-fisted and poorly executed attempt to create an uplifting story, by someone who's gone a little crazy with editing effects and Scrubs-style 'what if' scenarios. Zach Braff gets this right, the writers here do not. Perhaps my main issue is the fact that such a relevant and truly troubling subject matter is dealt with in a blithe, whiney and dull way. So much more could have been done here, and it's disappointing that the film was reduced to an achingly predictable and heartless mush. The characters certainly had none of the charm that the complex, faulted characters of the above films do - at times the dialogue was so clunky and cliched I actually felt embarrassed for the characters. More than once I had that 'really? REALLY?!' moment where I couldn't believe the plot had actually gone down the lazy path it had. I'm not going to spoil the film for anyone who wants to watch it, but be warned - It's truly painful. I'm not saying any of this to be a film snob or to pass judgement on those who might like this film. But to draw such wildly inaccurate comparisons with genuinely intelligent. sensitive and well-made films is just setting this film up for failure. And don't be a mug like my friends and I, waiting the full torturous 1.41.11 to see if it comes to some kind of decent resolution. It doesn't.

I'm a film-maker, so I'm normally fine with slow, subtle films. But wow, this film is excruciatingly dull and basically very boring. The cinematography is great, but the script is absolutely dire. I have stopped watching it after 70 minutes and nothing has happened yet.

This film hit a lot of note. Its interesting, funny, well directed and shot, with good acting and a thoughtful story behind it. We all go through thing in life we find tough, so its great to have a comic look at them without crass or crude. The soundtrack is fantastic too, always a good thing!

This is such a good film. One that will make you feel good. The acting is so good its like they are not acting! I know a bit heavy but this film will do it to you. This is a seriously good film.
