What is supposed to be a one-time stint turns into a permanent masquerade when the president is stricken mortally ill, and Dave finds himself caught between the ambitions of a group of powerful people and his own basic ideas of right and wrong. In a country where anybody can become president, anybody just did! Directed by Emmy-nominee Ivan Reitman and co-starring Academy Award-winner Ben Kingsley, Charles Grodin, Frank Langella, Ving Rhames, Laura Linney, and a host of cameos from real-life celebrities, reporters and U.S. senators. Just a great fun film from Ivan Reitman with Kline playing the roles fantastically. "Stop smiling... you look like a shmuck". Your ice cream will melt as you watch Kline and Weaver's relationship warm from start to finish. Excellent supporting role from the talented Frank Langella and an ever stoic Ben Kingsley. I t's hard not to smile at this film.

Seen this a couple of times now & always enjoy it. Kevin Kline & Sigourney Weaver are just blooming good actors anyway. The story is pretty good & has nice little twists. 👍😊

One of the best 'comfort' films around. Kevin Kline and Sigourney Weaver are brilliant in this 'feelgood' movie about an ordinary man thrust into the biggest job in the world; and a temp-job at that! See for yourself.
