This is such a perfect film. If you like 'It's a wonderful life' you'll love this too. Brilliant acting & Mr Masucheck(?) the shop owner was just brilliant too. I liked it so much that I bought it after renting....

If I am to be critical of this 1940 film then I would say it was the unconvincing change in attitude between the characters played by STEWART and SULLAVAN, when they were supposed to hate the sight of each other. It was also a pity that they didn't put more in about how much love they felt for their unknown co-respondent, emphasising the humour of their antagonistic relationship in the shop. Although I think the 'affair' plot device is creditable, I wasn't convinced by the suicide attempt of the shop owner as a result. Revenge would be the more likely emotion. Even so, I enjoyed this film and would recommend it to anyone who wanted to wile away an hour or so, especially if they are fans of the two protagonists. It was updated with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan in the early 2000s.

If you like, "It's a Wonderful Life" then you'll love this film. It's set in the snow and keeps you on the edge of your seat, just like 'It's a Wonderful Life'! It's great to find a happy, enchanting and romantic story. The black and white only adds to the atmosphere. You'll be happy you bought it!
