Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers star as the real-life superstar dancers who first made ballroom dancing an international sensation--and who served as inspiration to Astaire and Rogers--in The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle. In the years before World War I, vaudevillian Vernon Castle (Astaire) discovers that he shares a passion for dancing with Irene Foote (Rogers). Their relationship grows into love and marriage as their dancing develops into a whole new style of ballroom. When they're dancing is discovered in Paris, they suddenly become an international sensation, setting a new standard for chic style. But their celebrity comes to an untimely end when dies Vernon training pilots for England in World War I.
