Description

It's the end of yet another night at Hastings Supermarket, an idyllic family grocery store in Buck Lake, Arizona. But the normal monotony of rounding up shopping carts and settling out the cash drawers is broken at 11:07pm, just before closing when a group of masked and armed-to-the-teeth militants invades the store, immediately killing several of the employees and shoppers and holding the rest hostage. Though the hostage-takers at first appear to be robbers or terrorists, they reveal themselves to be a cadre of rogue scientists that has discovered and tracked an alien infestation to this store on this night, and they are determined to find out which of the survivors are extraterrestrials and end the invasion at any cost.

First of all let me point out that this feels more like a polished student movie then a studio release. But then again considering some recent studio releases is that a bad thing? It's nicely paced and kept me if not on the edge of my seat then definitely sitting up in it. If you like a good horror film that relies less on special effects and more on atmosphere then this well worth a watch. I'd hesitate to say buy this film, but it's definitely worth a rent.
  • This is a terrible film!

I am stunned to see so many good reviews for this poor excuse of a sci-fi film, the entire film is very dull, the acting from most of the cast is dire, it is like an extended version of a second rate sci-fi tv programme or something, the obvious low budget is no excuse for this terribly weak film. Do not waste your time with this, I am a big fan of sci-fi movies and this film just makes a mockery of the genre, shameful!

a quirky little movie with a simple but effective plot. Decent acting and a claustrophic setting lends it an extra build up of tension. worth watching!

This film doesnt kid itself...it knows people will compare to the orignal alien films so it doesnt try and hide it. Cant complain, the action was constant, stright from start to end. Really worth watching just dont compare to other films, take it for what it is.

at first the plot was confusing but as the film progressed it revealed itself to be a very good film with gritty sequences and with a ending that is suprising

Honestly better and more entertaining than it looks and I'd expected. There are some bad and cleche bits, but overall a decent movie.

Pretty good, lower budget, Horror/Sci-fi film. Reminiscent of Species and the alien movies. Worth a download, although dont expect it to be life changing cinema

really enjoyed this movie, didnt seem like a huge budget was spent on it but that doesnt mean its bad, too many movies these days rely on huge effects and a crap story line n script! this was good cause the story was interesting (in a sci-fi horror sense) and it taped into the greatest fear...the unknown the whole movie your guessing what is this thing what does it look like and that to me is a million times more frightening than i big special effects monster tearing up special effects ppl!
  • Actually quite good!

The setup is somewhat reminiscent of Splinter with its supermarket setting and whilst Alien Raiders is definitely not original its actually ok. The guy in the main role is Tony Almeida from 24 (who is either doing really badly and needs the work or doing really well and loves low-budget films) and the other actors are decent enough. Whilst the effects are few and far between the tension is carried along well, and they do service when they need too. For some reason it reminds me of Critters (but there are no little greeblies with teeth) and if you have a couple of hours free, and nothing else to watch this is fine.
