An exceptionally good heartfelt, love story showing that despite age and circumstances we can find true love. Beware for the tears at the end. Will definitely watch it again as both the main characters were superb. Thank you.

the acting is pretty dire until we get to the romantic bits. The ending predictable. I still cried though so something was working- however would not buy or watch again

I rented this film, and to be honest I'm glad I did. It is not that I thought RICHARD GERE was bad, and I positively loved discovering DIANE LANE, but I found some of the emotions the script asked them to show were not quite believable. I know some have said that it was 'love at first sight' but I don't really believe it can happen, so the idea of wild weekend (through the weather and emotional) just doesn't quite work. I have wondered, however, if in producing the script something was lost from the original book (same title). Also, strangely for a Hollywood film, it has a sad ending. It an enjoyable film and definitely a film for the 'girls' but not one I'd want in my permanent library.

This is a really lovely movie - pulls at the heart strings - one of those movies that you don't want to end but when it does you wished for something different. Excellent acting and really good pace and beautiful scenery.

Went to see this in the cinema with no preconceptions, just chose the film randomly. Was very moved, great film

I went to see this film at the cinema which was a big waste of time and money. If you like badly acted, badly scripted, heavy handed films, then this is the one for you. Full of toe-curling cliches especially when the love letters are narrated. Save your money for a true classic, not this drivel.
  • Very clever

Its a very good movie. I haven't read the book but i thought the movie was clever. I must admit i was in tears at the end, and when James Franco appeared in it i nearly died. lol. Its a very normal romantic story which can make you feel happy and sad at the same time.
